Amidst Political Controversy, Kangana Ranaut Stands Strong
The political arena was set ablaze as Kangana Ranaut, BJP’s Lok Sabha poll candidate from Mandi, Himachal Pradesh, found herself at the center of a social media storm initiated by Congress leaders. A derogatory post surfaced on Instagram, allegedly from Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinate’s account, targeting Ranaut over her electoral debut.
The National Commission for Women (NCW) swiftly intervened, demanding ‘strict action’ against Shrinate and party leader HS Ahir for their ‘lewd and derogatory’ remarks. NCW Chief Rekha Sharma condemned the behavior, emphasizing the importance of respecting women’s dignity and urging the Election Commission of India (ECI) to take immediate action.
In response to the controversy, Ranaut took to social media, asserting her stance on women’s empowerment and denouncing the use of derogatory language. She highlighted the need to uplift women from societal prejudices and condemned the sexualization of her candidacy and the town of Mandi.
Shrinate, in a video clarification, claimed innocence, attributing the inappropriate posts to unauthorized access to her social media accounts. Ahir echoed similar sentiments, blaming a parody account for the offensive content.
However, the NCW’s demand for action remained steadfast, emphasizing the gravity of the situation and the need for accountability. Union Minister Smriti Irani voiced her support for Ranaut, commending her resilience in the face of adversity.
As the political tug-of-war continues, Ranaut remains undeterred, symbolizing strength and resilience in the face of adversity. The controversy serves as a reminder of the challenges women face in the political arena and the importance of upholding dignity and respect for all.
