The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has made significant progress in the investigation of the Bengaluru cafe blast at Rameshwaram Cafe in Bengaluru. The incident, which occurred on March 1, resulted in injuries to several customers and hotel staff members, along with extensive damage to the popular cafe.
Following the blast, the NIA swiftly took over the case on March 3, deploying multiple teams to conduct thorough investigations. The agency’s efforts culminated in the arrest of Muzammil Shareef, a key conspirator who provided logistic support to the perpetrators. Shareef’s apprehension came after extensive raids across 18 locations spanning three states: Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Uttar Pradesh.
The main suspect, Mussavir Shazeeb Hussain, who allegedly carried out the blast, remains at large. Despite being on the run, the NIA has intensified its efforts to track him down and bring him to justice. Additionally, another identified conspirator, Abdul Matheen Taha, is wanted by the agency in connection with the case.
The NIA’s investigation has uncovered vital evidence, including CCTV footage that identifies the suspect and DNA samples extracted from a baseball cap found near the blast site. The agency’s meticulous scrutiny of nearly 1,000 CCTV grabs led to the identification of Taha, who is suspected to have purchased the cap from a mall in Chennai.
