In a strategic move aimed at boosting sales and enhancing electric vehicle (EV) adoption, Ola Electric, backed by the SoftBank Group, has announced a significant reduction in the prices of its S1 X range of electric scooters. The price cuts come in response to the recent reduction in government subsidies for EVs, signaling the company’s commitment to making eco-friendly transportation more accessible to the masses.
The S1 X range, which includes variants with battery configurations of 2 kWh, 3 kWh, and 4 kWh, will now be priced at INR 69,999, INR 84,999, and INR 99,999, respectively. This move makes Ola Electric’s offerings more competitive in the market, particularly when compared to other players in the EV space.
Furthermore, Ola Electric has also adjusted the prices of its other models, including the S1 Pro, S1 Air, and S1 X+, which will now be available at INR 1,29,999, INR 1,04,999, and INR 84,999, respectively. These revised prices aim to cater to a wider range of consumers and make Ola Electric’s product portfolio more accessible across various price points.
The decision to slash prices comes amidst Ola Electric’s efforts to capitalize on the growing demand for electric scooters in India. Despite the reduction in subsidies, the company remains optimistic about the future of the EV industry in the country. According to a company spokesperson, India’s EV sector has reached an inflection point, with increasing penetration in the two-wheeler segment.
Ola Electric’s S1 X range offers customers a compelling value proposition, with features such as an 8-year/80,000 km complimentary battery warranty and an IDC-certified range of up to 190 km. The scooters also boast impressive performance metrics, including a quick acceleration of 0-40 km/h in just 3.3 seconds and a top speed of 90 kmph in certain variants.
In addition to price reductions, Ola Electric has introduced new accessories and extended warranty options to further enhance the ownership experience for customers. These initiatives underscore the company’s commitment to delivering innovative solutions and driving EV penetration across the country.
With deliveries of the revised models set to begin soon, Ola Electric aims to capitalize on the momentum generated by its recent announcements. The company’s focus on affordability, performance, and customer satisfaction positions it as a key player in India’s rapidly evolving EV landscape.
As Ola Electric continues to innovate and expand its product offerings, it remains poised to play a significant role in shaping the future of mobility in India and beyond.
