Early Monday morning, a significant incident occurred near Ajmer station as four coaches of the Sabarmati-Agra superfast train derailed. The train, en route to Agra, experienced the derailment around 1 am, although fortunately, there were no casualties reported. Shashi Kiran, Chief Public Relations Officer of the North Western Railway (NWR) Zone, highlighted that the derailment happened shortly after the train passed Ajmer station and was approaching Madar station. The exact cause of the derailment remains under investigation.

The NWR swiftly responded by establishing a helpdesk at the Ajmer station and releasing a helpline number (0145-2429642) for the convenience of passengers and their relatives.

This incident wasn’t without its consequences, as several passengers sustained minor injuries when the Sabarmati Superfast Express collided with a goods train near Madar Railway Station. The collision, occurring at approximately 1:04 am, led to the derailment of the engine and four general coaches. Despite the severity of the incident, there were no fatalities.

In response to the derailment, railway officials promptly mobilized to the scene, with the accident relief train reaching Madar to commence track restoration efforts. The disruption in rail services was evident, leading to the cancellation of six trains and the rerouting of two others. Among the affected trains were Ajmer-Delhi Sarai Rohilla, Ajmer-Agra Fort, Ajmer-Gangapur City, Ajmer-Rewari, Jaipur-Marwar, and Marwar-Jaipur services. Additionally, the routes of the Sabarmati-Delhi and Hyderabad-Hisar trains were altered to accommodate the situation.

Despite the significant impact on rail operations, the prompt response and coordination of railway authorities ensured that no passengers suffered injuries in the derailment. The railway administration swiftly arranged for the evacuation of the affected coaches, with the entire train being escorted back to Ajmer station at 3:16 am with the assistance of another engine.

As investigations into the cause of the derailment continue, the railway administration remains committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of passengers and restoring normalcy to rail services in the affected region.
