Renowned spiritual guru and founder of the Isha Foundation, Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev, recently underwent emergency brain surgery to address a life-threatening condition involving swelling and bleeding in his brain. The surgery took place on March 17 at the Apollo Hospital in Delhi.
According to Dr. Vinit Suri, a senior consultant neurologist at Apollo Hospital, Sadhguru had been experiencing severe headaches for the past four weeks. Despite the intensity of the pain, he continued with his regular daily routine and social engagements, even conducting the Maha Shivaratri function on March 8. Dr. Suri noted that Sadhguru ignored the pain and carried on with all his commitments.
However, the situation took a turn for the worse on March 15 when Sadhguru’s headache intensified. Upon consulting Dr. Suri over the phone, it became evident that urgent medical attention was necessary. Dr. Suri advised Sadhguru to undergo an immediate MRI scan, although Sadhguru initially hesitated as he had a scheduled meeting. Eventually, he agreed to the MRI, which revealed significant bleeding in the brain, including evidence of both chronic and recent bleeding.
A team of doctors at Apollo Hospital, led by Dr. Vinit Suri along with Dr. Pranav Kumar, Dr. Sudheer Tyagi, and Dr. S. Chatterjee, swiftly performed emergency brain surgery to alleviate the bleeding. Following the procedure, Sadhguru showed steady progress, and his vital signs began to stabilize. He was successfully taken off the ventilator post-surgery, indicating a positive trajectory in his recovery journey.
