Bhubaneswar: A young man’s life was tragically cut short in a love triangle that escalated into murder in the Chintamaniswar area of Odisha’s capital.
The victim, 25-year-old Anjan Behera, was brutally attacked and killed after a dispute arising from a love triangle in the Laxmisagar locality. Anjan, a resident of Chintamaniswar under the jurisdiction of Laxmisagar police limits, fell victim to the violence allegedly perpetrated by Pinku, also known as Kanha Pradhan.
The sequence of events unfolded late on Friday night when Anjan, along with his friend Goutam, went to meet a girl with whom Goutam was romantically involved. Trouble brewed when Pinku, another suitor vying for the girl’s affection, confronted Goutam with a sword during their conversation. In an attempt to shield his friend, Anjan sustained grievous injuries.
Gautam Sahoo, a friend of the deceased, recounted the horrifying ordeal. He explained that while he was away in Khurda for personal matters, Pinku summoned him to Chintamaniswar over the phone. Upon arriving at the designated spot with Anjan around 1:45 a.m. on Saturday, they found Pinku accompanied by five others, including the girl in question. The situation quickly escalated, with Pinku launching a ferocious attack on Anjan with a sword. Despite Gautam managing to escape, Pinku and his accomplices subjected Anjan to a brutal assault.
Reports suggest that Pinku, a known offender with a history of criminal activities, had been romantically involved with the girl from Chintamaniswar for some time. However, when Gautam, a bartender, formed a friendship with Pinku’s girlfriend, tensions flared. This rivalry intensified, especially after Pinku’s recent release from jail.
Following the tragic incident, a complaint was lodged at the Laxmisagar police station, prompting an investigation. The authorities have initiated a search for the accused, who is currently evading capture. In their pursuit of justice, the police are planning to interrogate individuals associated with the suspect to gather crucial information about the crime.
